The Plot is harvested!

On Friday, November 8, harvest on the First Harvest Farm Management “Competitive Seed Comparison Plot” was completed. Yields were excellent with the top hybrid yielding a phenomenal 250 bu./acre, and the plot average over 231 bu./acre.

A big thanks to Phil Ruble, Craig Ator, Mark McQueen and Max Stinebaker with Prairieland F.S., Bret Lipcaman with Lipcaman Seed Sales, Inc., Tony Crowder at Crowder Seed Sales, Dwight Phillips with Nutrien Ag Services, Tim Lee with Golden Harvest, Randy McCaskill with Burrus Seeds, Dave Kraushaar with Wyfffels Hybrids, Edgewood Farms, LLC tenants Earl and Vicky Phillips for their attendance and assistance at the plot harvest.

Also, a huge thanks goes out to Ed Logan and Court White at Logan AgriService who provided the Lewis and AgriGold Hybrids, Mike Risley at Beck’s Hybrid, Gene Myers with LG Seeds, Larry Hanna and Tom Wainman with Nutrien Ag Services, and Wayne Bingham with NuTech Seeds.

Once each hybrid has been weighed, the corn off-loaded into the
truck for transportation to the elevator
Each sample is weighed, moisture tested, and results tabulated.
The combine harvests each hybrid replication individually, capturing the yield data
Due to the late planting and delayed harvest, the stalks were quite dry,
but moisture levels in each hybrid were in the 18 to 20% range
